I recently discovered Red Heart Scrubby Yarn. It would make good dish scrubbers for sure, but I have another idea. When you rub it you’re reminded of a loofah. So I used a strand of Scrubby held with a strand of Peaches and Cream 100% cotton to make a spa cloth. (Scrubby is difficult to work alone.) Even with the two strands I found that a large hook is required. Also, a rather loose pattern stitch makes the project easier to crochet.
For the pattern I chose the Moss stitch which is also known as the Granite stitch, Linen stitch or Woven stitch and came up with the following pattern using two strands and a size M or 9 mm crochet hook.
Chain 22. (Any even number of stitches will work.)
Row 1 – sc in 4th chain from hook then *ch 1, sk 1, sc* to end of row ending with sc then ch 2 and turn.
Row 2 – sc in ch 1 sp of previous row. Then *ch 1, sk 1, sc* across ending with sc in sp used to begin previous row.
Continue working row 2 until desired size. I made 20 rows. Finished size is approximately 9″ x 9.5″.
Scrubby yarn exfoliates and feels wonderful on your skin. Enjoy.
